Location → Mustansalmenpuisto, Hietasaari
The work “Maan Maan” built by Sini Talonen in the ARToulu art area is a spatial and functional environmental artwork made of wood and plywood sheets, and built on location.
The large-scale work will be built in the park Mustansalmenpuisto, in the Hietasaari area. The work creates a space and a place where you can linger. Shapes built from plywood sheets merge into each other and form three mounds rising from the ground. You can go inside the highest dome. The work rests on the ground, merging with the environment over time. Its loose forms rise from the soil and take root in the environment, as the vegetation wraps around the rest of the structures. The artwork deals with change and invites us to look at itself and ourselves, as well as the space, the place and the environment.
