Kaija Hinkula
Location → Tuira
The carnivalesque lamp post invites the passer-by for a moment outside the everyday life. The artwork combines city construction and the aesthetics of urban culture.
Hinkula implements the work using a decommissioned lamp post, which will be erected in a new location. In the artwork, unusual, fantasy-like and colorful elements are mixed with the everyday environment. The work integrates into the built environment, using an element already in the landscape as its base and combining painting and sculptural dimensions with it – expanding the painting into public outdoor space. The work will be donated to the Oulu Art Museum and its planned life cycle is several years.
