Nestori Syrjälä
Time → Xx.Xx.2025 at Xx–Yy am/pm
Location → Osoite/paikka, Oulu
The work revolves around a character who roams around Oulu and whose words cannot be trusted. The character spreads made‑up stories, rumours, and urban legends. They have many names and backstories, but no agenda – they tell tall tales simply for the joy of telling them.
Reliable information and truth are often quite straightforward – sometimes even a little dull. Stories, rumours, lies, and performing a role, on the other hand, stir emotions and spark the imagination. Trust is calm; distrust is intense. The work explores the theme of trust and distrust within the social situations surrounding Oulu’s European Capital of Culture project.
