Pimenton näyttelyhaku
TIETOA TILASTA
Pimento on noin 4 m² kokoinen musta, ikkunaton huone, joka on varustettu media- ja äänitaiteelle soveltuvalla tekniikalla. Tilassa voi esitellä myös muuta erityisesti mustasta tilasta hyötyvää taidetta, kuten valotaidetta.
Näyttelyt ovat avoinna yleisölle ke–pe klo 12–18 ja la–su 12–16. Paikalla on aina asiantuntevaa henkilökuntaa. Pimento sijaitsee Oulun kuvataiteen talossa.
Viereisessä kiinteistössä kulttuuritalo Valveella alkaa peruskorjaus vuoden 2027 aikana, mistä voi aiheutua merkittävää äänihaittaa Pimenton näyttelyille. Pimenton aukioloaikoja voidaan joutua rajoittamaan remontin vuoksi. Tällöin tila olisi yleisölle avoinna vain aikoina, jolloin äänekästä remonttia ei tehdä eli todennäköisesti iltapäivisin ja viikonloppuna. Mahdollisen meluhaitan ajankohdista ei ole tietoa.
PALVELUT JA HINTA
Pimenton näyttelyt ovat taiteilijalle näyttelymaksuttomia vuonna 2027. Näyttelyn järjestämisestä ei makseta näyttelypalkkiota.
Pimenton tarjoamiin palveluihin sisältyy mm. tila, esitystekniikka ja tiedotus taiteilijan toimittaman aineiston pohjalta. Taiteilijan käytössä oleva tekniikka:
- Acer PL1520i -videoprojektori
- 2x Genelec 8010A -aktiivikaiuttimet
- movebox 1080P-1 -mediasoitin
- Swissonic M-Control + -passiivinen kontrolleri
- AKG K-72 -kuulokkeet
Taiteilija vastaa näyttelyn ripustamisesta ja purkamisesta. Vaihtoehtoisesti taiteilija voi toimittaa teostiedoston, mikäli teoksen esittäminen videotykillä ei vaadi erityisosaamista. Mikäli teokset ovat myynnissä, myyntiprovisio on 25 % + Alv 25,5% (yhteensä n. 31% myyntihinnasta).
HAKUOHJEET
Vuoden 2027 näyttelyhaku päättyy 30.9.2026. Yhdessä haussa koko vuoden näyttelyt. Pimenton ohjelmistossa ei esitetä teoksia, jotka on nähty aiemmin Oulussa.

Vapaamuotoiseen hakemukseen on sisällytettävä:
- Kirjallinen kuvaus näyttelysuunnitelmasta / teoksesta
- Teoskuva tai -kuvia / linkki mediateokseen
- Ansioluettelo
- Toive näyttelyn ajankohdasta
Videoteoksista katsotaan valintavaiheessa noin kaksi minuuttia teoksen alusta tai taiteilijan valitsemasta kohdasta. Varmista, että teosten katseluoikeudet ovat kunnossa.
Pyydämme lähettämään näyttelyhakemus yhtenä pdf-tiedostona osoitteeseen: pimentohaku@gmail.com. Näyttelyt valitsee Oulun Taiteilijaseura -63 ry:n näyttelytoimikunta. Valinnan tuloksista tiedotetaan seuran nettisivuilla www.artoulu.fi. Valittuihin taiteilijoihin ollaan henkilökohtaisesti yhteydessä.
OHJEITA NÄYTTELYN SUUNNITTELUUN

Huomioitavaa:
- Videoteokset yhtenä tiedostona. Parhain toimintavarmuus on teoksilla, joissa resoluutio 1920 x 1080 pikseliä ja videotiedostomuoto H.264 Quicktime .mov.
- katossa olevaa videotykkiä ei saa poistaa tai siirtää
- Kaiuttimet ja projisointipinta ovat poistettavissa (levyn takana musta seinä)
- yhden seinän tilalla on musta verho, jonka taakse voi sijoittaa rajoitetusti esimerkiksi äänilaitteistoja.
- teosten ripustus suoraan seiniin (ei kiskoja). Kattoon ripustaminen rajoitettua.
- lattian voi halutesaan peittää mustalla messumatolla
Näyttelyn ripustus pääsääntöisesti joko näyttelyä edeltävänä maanantaina tai tiistaina. Purku näyttelyn päätyttyä sunnuntaina.
About the exhibition space Pimento
Pimento is a black, windowless room of approximately 4 m², equipped with technology suitable for media and sound art. The space can also be used to present other art that benefits from a black space, such as light art.
Exhibitions are open to the public Wed–Fri 12–6 pm and Sat–Sun 12–4 pm. There is always expert staff on site. Pimento is located in the House of Visual Arts.
The adjacent property, the Culture Centre Valve, will undergo renovations starting from 2027, which may cause significant noise pollution for Pimento’s exhibitions. Pimento’s opening hours may have to be restricted due to the renovation. In this case, the space would only be open to the public during times when there is no noisy renovation, which is likely to be in the afternoons and on weekends. There is no information on the times of possible noise pollution. The renovations are expected to last until 2029.
Services and price
Pimento’s exhibitions are free of exhibition fees for the artist in 2027. No exhibition fee is paid for organizing the exhibition.
The services offered by Pimento include, among others, space, presentation technology and information based on the material provided by the artist. Technology used by the artist:
- Acer PL1520i -video projector
- 2x Genelec 8010A -active speakers
- movebox 1080P-1 – media player
- Swissonic M-Control + -passive controller
- AKG K-72 – headphones
The artist is responsible for hanging and dismantling the exhibition. Alternatively, the artist can provide a file of the work, if presenting the work with a video projector does not require special skills. If the works are for sale, the sales commission is 25% + VAT 25.5% (total approx. 31% of the sales price).
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
The exhibition application closes on September 30th for the following year’s exhibitions. Pimento’s program does not present works that have been seen in Oulu before. The exhibition period is approximately 4 weeks.
The free-form application must include:
- A written description of the exhibition plan or of the artwork
- Photo or photos of the artwork or a link to the media art
- A curriculum vitae
- Request for the exhibition period
For video works, approximately two minutes from the beginning of the work or from a point chosen by the artist will be viewed during the selection phase. Make sure that the viewing rights for the works are in order.
We ask that you send your exhibition application as a single pdf file to: pimentohaku@gmail.com. The exhibitions will be selected by the exhibition committee of the Oulu Artists’ Association. The results of the selection will be announced on the association’s website www.artoulu.fi. The selected artists will be contacted personally.
Instructions for planning the exhibition
We recommend that you take the time to view the interiors and floor plan above.
Please note:
- Video works as a single file. The best reliability is achieved with works with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and the video file format H.264 Quicktime .mov.
- The video projector in the ceiling isn’t movable.
- Active speakers and whiteboard are movable objects (there’s a black surface behind the whiteboard).
- Instead of a back wall, there is a black curtain. There is limited space behind it where you can put, for example, sound system equipment.
- There are no hanging rails; artwork goes straight on the wall. Hanging from the ceiling is limited.
- The floor can be covered with a black exhibition mat if desired
- The exhibition is usually hung either on the Monday or Tuesday before the exhibition. Dismantling on Sunday after the exhibition ends.
